When planning their wedding in Italy, brides often face the question: which type of wedding ceremony should they choose? In this article, I will tell you about wedding ceremonies in Italy, including their advantages and disadvantages.
Official wedding ceremony abroad in Italy
Many brides think first and foremost about having an official wedding ceremony, especially since in Italy, you can legally get married and later translate and legalize all the documents in your home country. Sounds great, doesn’t it? However, we do not recommend it for non-Italian citizens. Firstly, the paperwork is expensive (starting at €2,000) and takes several months to complete. Secondly, for small weddings or elopements, the choice of locations is quite limited.
In short: too much hassle and little benefit. I explain more about official ceremonies in Italy HERE.

Symbolic wedding ceremony in Italy
A smart and cost-effective option for any wedding is a symbolic ceremony in Italy. It’s the perfect choice for those who dream of a beautiful wedding ceremony abroad with complete freedom to choose the location, decorations, food, program, and the ability to fully customize the wedding to their tastes, without any obstacles. Here, you can find any location: a medieval castle, a villa by the sea, a winery, a hotel with a panoramic view, by a lake, or in the mountains. The choice is yours. A professional wedding officiant, fluent in Russian, Italian, or English, will prepare a heartfelt script for your ceremony based on your love story. Isn’t it like a fairytale? Orthodox wedding ceremony in Italy
If you want to get married in a church and you're an Orthodox or Catholic couple, Italy offers several incredibly beautiful Orthodox churches and hundreds of Catholic ones. It's important to remember that a wedding ceremony is a very serious rite, and if you're considering the church only as decoration, it’s better to opt for a symbolic ceremony in an inactive church in Italy. However, if you are a believer, a wedding in Rome will be the most emotional event of your life, especially in a historical location with a panoramic view, such as the Church of Saint Catherine in Rome. You can read more about the church and the wedding ceremony HERE.
